Biography:
Ľudovít Feld was a Slovak painter born in Košice in 1904 and died in the same city in 1991. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Budapest with Nándor Lajos Varga and Viktor Olgyai. In 1933, he created a painting school. During the Second World War, he was deported to the concentration camp of Auschwitz, where he survived by drawing portraits of the camp's personnel, including the infamous doctor Joseph Mengele. After the war, he returned to Košice and continued his artistic career. He is considered one of the most important Slovak painters of the 20th century.
