Stefan Sivan was a Slovak woodcarver from Orava. He is considered one of the most prominent and unique figures of Slovak folk art with an exceptionally rare and valuable expression. Stefan Sivan was born on August 28, 1906, in Babín. He grew up without his father and had to overcome a difficult life. He started carving wooden sculptures through carving Bethlehem scenes, which he would take while going door-to-door during the Christmas season. Stefan Sivan's work is characterized by its simplicity, elegance, and deep emotional expression.
