Biography:
León Chávez Teixeiro is a Mexican singer-songwriter activist and painter. He was born in Colonia Guerrero, Mexico City, on April 11, 1936. He began the composition and interpretation of social justice songs campaigning both politically and musically different social movements. He is known for his involvement in movements in favor of worker housing and his participation in the 1968 Movement in Mexico. He also founded, together with others and other artists, La Comuna de Sor Juana, an artistic commune in colonia Santa María la Ribera. He is also a painter and has made exhibitions in different places in Mexico.
