Biography:

António José de Sousa Lopes, known as António Olaio, was born in Sacavém, Portugal in 1962. He is a Portuguese painter and visual artist, known for his abstract and conceptual works. Olaio studied at the Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa (ESBAL) and has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad. He has received several awards for his artistic contributions, including the Prémio EDP (EDP Award) in 1994 and the Prémio Novos Valores (New Values Award) in 1995. Olaio's work is represented in various public and private collections, including the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Berardo Collection Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art in Lisbon. He continues to live and work in Lisbon, Portugal.
