Biography:
Axel Herman Haig was a Swedish-born British architect, artist, and illustrator. He studied naval architecture and shipbuilding in Karlskrona before moving to Glasgow, Scotland, and later to London, where he worked as an architectural draughtsman for Ewan Christian. In 1866, Haig set up his own practice and produced perspective drawings for notable architects such as William Burges. He created 'realisations' of many of Burges's designs, including the Royal Courts of Justice in The Strand and Cardiff Castle. Haig also contributed drawings to English magazines and produced over four hundred etchings, exhibiting at various galleries in London.
