Biography:
Bretislav I, also known as Břetislav I, was a Duke of Bohemia from the Přemyslid dynasty. He was born in 1002 or 1005 and ruled as Duke from 1034 until his death in 1055. Bretislav I was known as the 'Bohemian Achilles' and was responsible for permanently attaching the province of Moravia to Bohemia. He was married to Judith of Schweinfurt, who served as Duchess consort of Bohemia from 1034 until 1055.
