Biography:

Spanish engraver and painter. He was a comendador of the Order of Isabel the Catholic, artistic director of the National Mint and Stamp Factory, and chief engraver of the Bank of Spain. Maura y Montaner specialized in portrait engravings and book illustrations. He was one of the most awarded and recognized engravers during the last third of the 19th century.
