Biography:
Michael D. Fay is a painter, illustrator, and retired chief warrant officer for the Marine Corps. He earned his Bachelor of Science in art education from Pennsylvania State University. Fay was credited by the Marines with starting their combat art program in World War I. In 2005, he traveled to Iraq in his capacity as official Marine Corps artist, fighting with Marines engaged in Operation Steel Curtain. He has been the combat artist for the Marine Corps since January 2000. Fay's work has been exhibited at the National Museum of the Marine Corps and is part of their permanent collection.
