Biography:

Compañía Mexicana Aerofoto, S. A. de C. V. was a Mexican company specialized in aerial photography in the territory of the Mexican Republic and some countries of Latin America. It was founded in 1930 by the Mexican pilot Luis Struck and in its 58 years of operation, it managed to accumulate an archive of almost 1 million images, covering an area of 1.2 million km². The photographs in the archive mainly consist of panoramic views of different areas of the Mexican states and consist of 18 lakes and lagoons, 73 river basins, 9 forest areas, 22 dams, 20 irrigation districts, around 120 urban areas and 2286 engineering works. The company carried out collaborations in topographic surveys in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Peru and Honduras, and expanded its services to include aerofotogrammetry, urban and rural cadastral surveys, and geophysics. The company functioned until 1989, when satellite photography began to emerge as a more convenient and precise alternative.
