Biography:
Daan Roosegaarde is a Dutch artist, innovator, and founder of Studio Roosegaarde. He was born in Nieuwkoop, Netherlands, in 1979. Roosegaarde studied at the Academy of Fine Arts AKI in Enschede and at the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam. In 2007, he founded Studio Roosegaarde, which focuses on creating social designs that explore the relationship between people, technology, and space. Roosegaarde's works often merge technology and art in urban environments and are described as immersive and interactive, changing the visitors' surroundings in reaction to their behavior. Some of his notable projects include Smog Free Project, Waterlicht, and Icoon Afsluitdijk. Roosegaarde has received several awards for his work, including the Dutch Design Award and the World Technology Award. He is also a TED speaker.
