Biography:
Davis Birks is a highly active and collected artist who has worked in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Mexico, US, Europe and Asia. He was born in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1957 and is known for his sculpture, installation, painting, photography and social practice. Birks explores a wide range of interests including social inter-relations, geo-politics, economy, the environment, and history. He is also a board member of 'ProMuseo' for the implementation of cultural projects in Puerto Vallarta and was a planning committee member of 'PV Arte Contemporáneo' in Puerto Vallarta. Birks has also been influenced by German romanticism and has created pieces that show the ghostly figure of a man in a landscape. He is also known for his work 'Errata: Addition by Subtraction' which is dedicated to his Great Grandmother, Eda May Collier. Birks' work forms part of private and public art collections around the world.
