Diário de São Paulo, also known as Diário Popular, is a Brazilian newspaper published in São Paulo. It was founded in 1884 by José Maria Lisboa and Américo Brasílio de Campos with the financial support of Antônio Bento, Hipólito Junior and Aristides Lobo. The newspaper was originally called Diário Popular, but changed its name to Diário de São Paulo in 2001. The newspaper is known for its independent and moderate discussions and has been the source of many important messages, including those from Francisco C Xavier and José Herculano Pires in the book 'Missives of Hope'.
