Biography:
Diogo Pires-o-Moço, also known as Diogo Pires, o Moço, was a Portuguese sculptor born in Portugal in the 15th century. He was the son or nephew of Diogo Pires, o Velho, and was considered the greatest sculptor of the Manueline style. His most famous works include the Padrão da Ponte de Coimbra, the Tomb of Aires Gomes da Silva, and the Heraldic Angel, which is considered his masterpiece. Diogo Pires-o-Moço was active between the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century, and his work marked the transition between the Gothic and Renaissance styles in Portugal. He died in Portugal in the 16th century.
