Biography:
Eduardo de Almeida Navarro, known as Eduardo Ayrosa, was born in Osasco, Brazil in 1962. He is a lexicographer, philologist, and full professor at the University of São Paulo. Navarro is best known for his work on the Tupi language, specifically for the Dictionary of Old Tupi: the classical indigenous language of Brazil, which he published in 2013. The dictionary is based on old texts rather than native speakers, making it a historical dictionary. Navarro obtained his habilitation degree in 2006 and became a full professor at USP in the same year he published the dictionary. He states that the creation of the dictionary was necessary for him to complete his translation of the Camarão Indians' letters.
