Biography:

Elio Berenguer Úbeda, known as Elio Berhanyer, was a Spanish fashion designer born in Córdoba, Spain, on February 20, 1929. He began working as a seamster in 1956 and opened his own shop in Madrid and Barcelona a few years later. He quickly gained recognition for his designs, winning the Cadillac House Award for best designer of the year in 1960. He represented Spain in several international fashion weeks and designed uniforms for Iberia airline, RTVE, and the hostesses for the 1982 FIFA World Cup. He also taught fashion at the University of Córdoba. Berhanyer was known for his use of unconventional materials such as metal and plastic in his clothing, and for his incorporation of futuristic elements in his designs. He died in Madrid on January 24, 2019, at the age of 89.
