Emili Sivillà i Torres was a Spanish painter born in Barcelona in 1845 and died in 1894. He was one of the great exponents of Catalan realist painting and staged several exhibitions in Barcelona in 1886, 1870 and 1887. His work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. Sivillà i Torres was known for his marines and paisatges, with a preference for orientalism in his later career. In 1931, a joint exhibition of the great masters of Catalan painting of the 19th century was held in Barcelona, including Sivillà i Torres.
