Biography:

Encarnación Cabré was a Spanish archaeologist and the first woman to become a professional archaeologist in Spain. She developed an interest in archaeology at a young age, accompanying her father Juan Cabré on expeditions to peninsular Spain. In the 1930s, she presented her research in archaeological excavation in various journals and international conferences. After the Spanish Civil War, she was forbidden from teaching due to the Francoist dictatorship, but returned to the field in 1975 and remained active until her death in 2005. The Spanish parliament recognized her contributions to women's professional advancement in 2019.
