Biography:
Esteban Márquez de Velasco was a Spanish Baroque painter, born in Puebla de Guzmán, Spain in 1652. He moved to Seville at an early age and worked with his uncle Fernando Márquez until 1672. His works show a strong dependence on the art of Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. Some of his notable works include 'Lactation of Saint Dominic' (1693), 'Christ and the Virgin as protectors of the youth' (1694), and 'St. Augustine and St. Joseph with the Child' (Museum of Fine Arts of Seville). He died in 1696.
