Biography:
Fèlix Urgellés i de Tovar (Barcelona, 1845 - 1919) was a Spanish painter and scenographer. He was born in Barcelona and died in the same city. He specialized in landscape painting and was influenced by the great masters during his travels to Madrid, Paris, London, Lyon, and Seville. He participated in several national art exhibitions in Madrid and received recognition with a medal at the 1878 exhibition in Girona. He later became interested in scenography and created memorable decorations for various theaters in Catalonia, Spain, and Hispanoamerica. He collaborated with Adrián Gual for his teatro íntimo and won the wagnerian scenography contest organized by the Teatro del Liceo de Barcelona. He was known for his mastery of atmospheric values.
