Fernando Cruz Solís was a Spanish figurative sculptor born in Seville, Spain in 1923. He died in Manzanares el Real in 2003. Fernando Cruz Solís was a disciple of the sculptor José Capuz and after his formation, he became a professor at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Madrid. His notable works include the Monumento a los Defensores Caídos in Oviedo, the monumental bronze doors of the Valle de los Caídos basilica, four groups of sculptures for the Sagrado Corazón del Cerro de los Ángeles monument, and the statue of Santa Teresa at the Monasterio de la Encarnación in Ávila. He also created urban sculptures that are part of outdoor museums in various cities.
