Fernando Távora was a renowned Portuguese architect and professor. He was born in Porto, Portugal in 1923 and died in Matosinhos, Portugal in 2005. Távora was a key person in the modernization of the Porto School of Fine Arts and became a professor at the school. He was also a professor at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Porto and the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra. Távora was the author of several books and articles on architecture and urbanism. He was awarded the title of Commander of the Order of Saint James of the Sword in 1990. Távora's work is characterized by its integration of traditional Portuguese architecture with modernist principles. He is considered one of the most important architects in Portugal's history and his work has had a significant impact on the country's architectural landscape.
