Biography:
Francisco Xavier da Cunha Aragão, also known as Aragão, was a Portuguese Cavalry officer who reached the rank of lieutenant colonel. After World War I, he moved to Military Aeronautics, becoming a pioneer of military aviation in Portugal. From 1923 to 1924, he was chief of staff to António Ribeiro de Carvalho. Aragão conspired against the Estado Novo from 1931 onwards; he was dismissed from the armed forces and forced into exile in France. He returned to Portugal in 1940 and settled in the Azores. Aragão was born in Cascais, Portugal in 1891 and died in 1973.
