Biography:
Gil Garea was a Mexican painter. He was born on October 28, 1954, in Mexico City and emigrated to Colima in the eighties. He produced all his work there. Over the years, he joined the Graphic Experimentation Workshop of the Plastic Research and Experimentation Center of the National Institute of Fine Arts-Secretariat of Public Education in Mexico. In addition to his multiple collective and individual exhibitions, he has been awarded throughout his career with various distinctions such as the first place in the Pinturerías bullfighting poster contest, called a long time ago by the Televisa Cultural Foundation. Several watercolors, serigraphs, and intaglio prints are exhibited in the Alfonso Michel University Gallery of the University of Colima, while others can be seen in various museums in the country in the states of Jalisco, Oaxaca, Colima, and Mexico City.
