Biography:
Giosuè Sala detto Saletta, also known as Giosuè Sala, was an Italian painter born in Milan in 1799 and died in 1803. He was mainly active in Milan and is known for his portrait paintings. One of his notable works is the portrait of Giuseppe Buttironi, a priest from Lecco who left 60,000 to the Maggiore Hospital. The portrait was created post 1802 and is currently held at the Lombardia Beni Culturali. Giosuè Sala also painted the portrait of Giovanni Pedroni, who left a property inheritance and a capital of 15,000 lire to the Ospedale Maggiore. The artist is also known for his portrait of Federico Borromeo, created in 1784.
