Biography:

Hōko Amano (1832-1891) was a Japanese artist known for his work in the ukiyo-e style. He was born in Edo (now Tokyo) and began his career as a woodblock carver before becoming a painter and printmaker. Amano was a member of the Utagawa school, one of the most prominent and prolific schools of ukiyo-e artists in the late Edo and Meiji periods. He was known for his detailed and realistic depictions of landscapes, figures, and still lifes, and his work was highly regarded for its technical skill and artistic merit. Amano's most famous works include 'Kannon in a Bamboo Grove' (1884) and 'Mount Fuji and a Waterfall' (1885).
