Biography:
Hana Wichterlová was a Czech sculptor, born in Prostějov, Czech Republic in 1903 and died in 1990. She was known for her abstract and figurative sculptures, often made of marble, stone, and bronze. Her work was influenced by Cubism and Constructivism, and she was one of the leading figures of the Czech avant-garde movement in the interwar period. She was also a member of the Group of Czech Artists, which was active in the 1930s and 1940s. Wichterlová's sculptures are characterized by their geometric shapes, clean lines, and minimalist aesthetic. She was also known for her public art commissions, including the sculpture 'A Bud' (1932) in marble. Wichterlová's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the Czech Republic and is held in numerous private and public collections.
