Biography:
Yasuki Hiramatsu (平松 保城, Hiramatsu Yasuki, April 30, 1926 - April 11, 2012) was a Japanese artist and considered a pioneer of modern jewelry in Japan. He was born in Osaka, Japan and graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1952. Hiramatsu was a member of the Japan Craft Design Association, the Japan Jewellery Designers Association, and the Gesellschaft für Goldschmiedekunst. He received numerous awards and prizes throughout his career, including the Gold Prize at the 3rd Craft Center Japan in 1969, the Prize at the Japan New Craft Exhibition in 1970, and the Ring of Goldsmiths from the Gellschaft für Goldschmiedekunst in 1994. Hiramatsu's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Galerie am Graben in Vienna, Austria, the Electrum Gallery in London, and the Crafts Gallery at the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo. He passed away in 2012 at the age of 85.
