Biography:
Jules Perahim, born Iuliș Blumenfeld, was a Romanian artist. The painter created his works in the styles of Surrealism and Socialist Realism. He was born in Bucarest, Romania in 1914 and died in 2008. Perahim was associated with Surrealist circles at the beginning of the 1930's and has contributed to the early development of what was to become Socialist Realism. He was a professor at the Institute of Plastic Arts in Bucharest from 1948 to 1956 and executed a series of engravings, Proverbes in 1957. He is known for Surrealist painting, fantasy creatures.
