Biography:

Kenro Izu is a Japanese-born photographer based in the United States. He is the founder of children's charity Friends Without a Border, for which he has received two awards. He has also been awarded for his photography. Izu was born in Osaka, Japan in 1949 and studied at Nihon University in Tokyo. He moved to the United States in 1972 and began working as a commercial photographer in New York. In 1979, he began what has become a lifelong project of photographing ancient sites around the world. Izu's work is known for its use of long exposures and its focus on the spiritual and mystical aspects of these sites. He has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions and his work is held in the collections of major museums and institutions.
