Biography:
Józef Bałzukiewicz was a Polish artist born in 1867 in Wilno, Poland. He studied at the Wileńska Szkoła Rysunkowa Iwana Trutniewa and later at the Cesarskiej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych in St. Petersburg. Bałzukiewicz was a painter who worked in various styles, including religious, landscape, portrait, and genre painting. He also used different mediums such as oil paint, ink, watercolor, and pastels. The artist taught art classes in Czerepowcu, Russia, and later in Wilno, where he founded his own evening art school. Bałzukiewicz was a member of the Wileńskie Towarzystwo Artystyczne and participated in its exhibitions. His works can be found in museums in Lithuania and churches in Vilnius.
