Biography:
Jacob Petit, also known as Jacob Mardochée, was a French porcelain manufacturer born in Paris in 1796 and died in 1868. He worked at the porcelain factory at Sèvres as a painter before establishing his own hard-paste porcelain factory in Belleville, Paris in 1830. He later moved his factory to Fontainebleau. Petit's porcelain is known for its originality, quality of finish, and rich polychromy.
