Biography:
James Stirling Michael Wilford & Associates was a British architectural firm founded by James Stirling and Michael Wilford in 1971. The firm was responsible for designing numerous notable buildings, including the Neue Staatsgalerie in Stuttgart, Germany, and the Sackler Gallery in Washington D.C., USA. Stirling was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1981, and the firm won the RIBA Stirling Prize in 1996 for their design of the Number 1 Poultry building in London. Stirling passed away in 1992, and Wilford continued to lead the firm until his retirement in 2005.
