Biography:
Jean-Yves Jouannais is a French artist and writer, born in 1964 in France. He is the heir of Robert Filliou and Marcel Broodthaers, and in 2008, he chose to focus on a unique project: to elaborate an Encyclopaedia of wars into alphabetical order. He is the author of several essays, novels, and collective works. He was the editor-in-chief of the magazine Art Press from 1991 to 1999, and a member of the editorial committee of the Revue Perpendiculaire from 1995 to 1998. He has also taught contemporary art at the Beaux-Arts de Paris. His work includes the creation of an Encyclopedia of Wars, which he has been presenting in the form of conferences and performances since 2008. He is represented by Galerie GP & N Vallois.
