Biography:

Jorge Chávez Carrillo was a Mexican artist who studied at the Escuela Normal de Educación Física, the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas San Carlos, and the Taller de Integración Plástica del Instituto Politécnico Nacional. He founded the Escuela de Artes del Gobierno del Estado de Colima in 1956 and later became a director at the Universidad de Colima. Chávez Carrillo created numerous murals, including 'México Independiente' in 1953, and his work can be found in various locations throughout Mexico. He was also a professor and promoter of cultural activities.
