Biography:
Jorge Marçal da Silva was a Portuguese surgeon and amateur photographer. He worked as a surgeon at the hospitals of São José and Dona Estefânia in Lisbon, and also taught at the Artur Ravara School of Nursing. As an amateur photographer, he captured over 4,000 images between 1906 and 1927, mostly in the stereoscopic format Vérascope. His photographs showcase his personal taste and the photographic trends of the time, including family and friends, cultural heritage, architecture, and natural landscapes.
