Biography:
José Cucé was a Brazilian artist born in São Paulo in 1900. He was the son of Italian immigrants and began his artistic studies at the age of 17 at the Liceu de Artes e Ofícios, where he studied painting and sculpture under the guidance of teachers such as Amadeo Zani, Adolfo Borione, and Henrique Vio. Cucé's work was heavily influenced by the neoclassical Italian style. He gained recognition early in his career when he won first place in a competition at the age of 17. Cucé died in São Paulo in 1961.
