Pedro Vélez is a Puerto Rican artist born in 1971. He obtained his M.F.A. at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his B.A. in Communications at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Puerto Rico. Vélez's work comprises painting, large-scale wall collages, web-based works, and sculpture. His writing has been published in various art publications, and he worked as a critic for Artnet covering the scenes in Puerto Rico and the Midwest for 12 years. Vélez's art often explores themes of art criticism, journalism, and politics.
