Biography:
Julián Terán is an Argentine visual artist, musician, and composer. He was born in La Plata, Argentina in 1977 and currently resides in Buenos Aires. Terán's work often explores cartographies, topological and astronomical maps, reflecting his interest in the systems humans use to translate territories and spaces into visual images. His artistic process involves translating spatial elements into visual representations and manual labor as a form of meditation. In addition to his visual art, Terán is also a composer and performer of contemporary Argentine folk music. He has had solo exhibitions at various museums and galleries, including the Museo J.R. Vidal de Corrientes, Multiespacio San Telmo, and Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires (MAMBA). His work has been featured in group exhibitions such as Litoralismo at the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (MALBA) and A History of Imagination in Argentina at the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires. Terán's artwork is part of important Latin American private collections and has been exhibited in international art fairs like ArteBA, ArtBo, and Pinta.
