Carl Jäger, also known as Karl Jäger, was a German painter born in Nuremberg, Germany in 1833. He died in 1887 in the same city. Jäger was a portraitist, painter of genre and historical scenes, and a graveur. He studied in Munich and made several portraits of Richard Wagner. He is also known for his portraits of Ludwig van Beethoven and other musicians.
