Katsushika Ōi

Biography:

Katsushika Ōi, also known as O-I, was a Japanese artist born in Edo (Tokyo), Japan around 1800. She was the daughter and student of the famous ukiyo-e artist Hokusai, and is best known for her woodblock prints and paintings. Ōi's works often depicted women and landscapes, and she was particularly skilled at depicting the delicate and intricate details of her subjects. She worked in the ukiyo-e style, which was a popular genre of Japanese art that flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries. Ōi's work was highly regarded during her lifetime, and she continued to produce art until after 1857. However, much of her life and work remains shrouded in mystery, and there is still much to be discovered about this talented artist.
