Biography:
Kondo Koichiro was a Japanese artist born in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1883. He studied at the Tokyo Fine Arts School and started his career as a Western-style painter. After graduation, he took a position as a teacher at the same school. Kondo was known for pushing the boundaries of ink painting and was an innovative artist in the medium. He was also known for his article on André Malraux published in the Kanrin, a Japanese literary journal in 1935. Kondo died in 1962.
