Biography:

Kura Shomali is a visual artist from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He was born in 1979 in Kananga and currently lives and works in Kinshasa. Shomali studied at the Académie des Beaux-Arts de Kinshasa and later at the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg. His work explores video, installation, and drawing, and is known for its use of lines and splashes of ink, which create a colorful and turbulent universe. Shomali's art conveys the buzz and disorder of the city where he lives, and is often a reaction to the commotion and chaos of Kinshasa. He has exhibited in numerous international institutions, including the Pompidou Center in Paris, the Tate Modern in London, and the Guggenheim Bilbao.
