Lúcio Marçal Ferreira Ribeiro Lima Costa (27 February 1902 – 13 June 1998) was a Brazilian architect and urban planner, best known for his plan for Brasília. He was born in Toulon, France to a Brazilian diplomat family. Costa studied architecture at the Escola Nacional de Belas Artes in Rio de Janeiro and later worked with prominent architects such as Le Corbusier and Oscar Niemeyer. He is considered one of the most influential architects of the 20th century and his work has been recognized internationally for its modernist style and innovative urban planning.
