Leo Rosenthal is an American artist born in Richmond, Virginia in 1947. He is best known for being a co-founder of the Standard Drug Company, a drugstore chain based in Richmond, Virginia. He and his brother Samuel Rosenthal founded the company in 1919 after graduating from the MCV School of Pharmacy. The first store opened on Main Street in Downtown Richmond as a pharmacy only. In 1921, the Rosenthals acquired a large building at the corner of First and Broad streets that became the anchor store to the first discount drug chain in America. The company thrived for decades, expanding throughout Virginia into Washington, D.C., and its Maryland suburbs. In October 1993, the 60-store Standard Drug chain was bought by CVS Corp., which closed several locations and renamed the others as Peoples Drug stores. Leo Rosenthal is also known for his work as a sports presenter and commentator in England, having covered many sports including football, rugby, automotive racing, boxing, and athletics. He has covered eight FIFA World Cups, three Rugby World Cups, two Olympic Games, and 150 Formula One races.
