Biography:
Ludovico Ariosto, also known as Ludovico Ariosto, dit l'Arioste, was an Italian poet born in Reggio Emilia, Italy in 1474 and died in 1533. He is best known for his epic poem Orlando furioso (1516), which is generally regarded as the finest work of Italian literature of the Renaissance. Ariosto's work is characterized by its rich humanism, which he coined as umanesimo, and its satire of the chivalric tradition. He also served as a poet, commediografo, funzionario and diplomatico for the Este family in Ferrara.
