Biography:

Monica Hasenberg is an Argentine photographer born in Buenos Aires in 1954. She is known for her extensive work in photojournalism and documentary photography in Argentina. Hasenberg began working as a photographer at a young age, helping her father, a German photographer, to copy and develop black and white murals. She studied at the First School of Social Psychology Pichón Riviere. Hasenberg has dedicated her career to capturing popular struggles in Argentina, leaving a vast legacy of resistance in the streets and available to all. She worked in conjunction with her Italian husband, photographer Brenno Quaretti, until his death in 1995. Hasenberg has been recognized as a prominent figure in Argentina, being declared a distinguished personality by the Legislature for her work related to the testimony of the last civic-military dictatorship in the country.
