Biography:
Manuel Hernández Acevedo was a Puerto Rican painter and printmaker. He was born in Aguas Buenas in 1921 and left school after the fourth grade. He worked as a shoemaker, assistant sign maker, and sign painter before becoming an artist. Hernández Acevedo's work often depicted Puerto Rican landscapes and scenes of everyday life. He had several exhibitions in Puerto Rico and the United States, and his work is held in collections at the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico and the Colección Reyes Veray. Hernández Acevedo died in San Juan in 1989.
