Biography:

Marco Ferrari d'Agrate was an Italian sculptor born in Parme in 1491. He was active in his native city before moving to Milan, where he died after 1571. He is known for his work on the facade of the Certosa of Pavia and the tomb of Giovanni del Conte in the Basilica of San Lorenzo in Milan. His most famous work is the statue of St Bartholomew Flayed (1562), found in the transept of the Cathedral of Milan. He signed it with a line in Latin that states: Non me Praxiteles, sed Marc'finxit Agrat, 'I was not made by Praxiteles but by Marco d'Agrate'.
