Biography:

Nina Ricci, also known as Maria Adélaïde Nielli, was an Italian-born French fashion designer. She was born in Turin, Italy, and moved to France at the age of 12. At the age of 13, she began her apprenticeship in fashion, and in 1908, she married Luigi Ricci, with whom she had a son, Robert. In 1932, she founded the fashion house Nina Ricci in Paris, which quickly became known for its elegant and feminine designs. She was a pioneer of licensing her designs before the rise of ready-to-wear, and the brand started licensing their patterns to upscale boutiques as early as 1960.
