Biography:

Martín García Rivera is a Puerto Rican printmaker and painter. He was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico in 1960. He studied at the University of Puerto Rico (UPR), where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in arts in 1983. He graduated in 1988 with a master’s degree from the Pratt Institute in New York. García Rivera is known for his mastery of grayscale, white, and black in his drawings and xylographies, which transport viewers to mysterious worlds. He is also recognized for his love for his work, family, teaching, and Puerto Rico. García Rivera has received numerous awards for his work, including the Premio Especial del Rector de la Academia de las Bellas Artes de Breslavia in the Trienal Internacional de Grabado de Cracovia. His work has been exhibited in various museums and galleries, including the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico and the Colección Reyes Veray.
